This is My Father’s World

Artemis II NASA

God is Sovereign. Period. We are responsible, but God is sovereign. (See When Storms Come.)

God’s sovereignty is immense, awesome, totally good news. And yes, scary!

For Christians, God is our loving Father. We are in Christ, and the Father looks at us knowing that we belong to His beloved Son. Whatever, WHATEVER, happens is used by God for our good, making us more into the image of His Son, and preparing us for heaven.

You’ve most likely sung this hymn. Perhaps you’ve sung it so often you have memorized all or part of it.

This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.

This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world,
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world,
He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Don’t miss the last stanza! God is sovereign over the bad times also. There is evil in the world, but remember that God is the ruler yet. We know He is working His holy plan, that His redeemed will be in heaven, and that God wins.

Continue to sing This is My Father’s world. Continue to praise almighty God.

Press on.
