Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come. (Revelation 4:8b)

Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory. (Isaiah 6:3b)

Our Holy God is totally above and separate from His creation. God is truly incomprehensible.

Our Holy God is also present in our world, infinitely perfect.

Our Holy God says to us: Be holy, for I am holy. 

Like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15–16)

WHEW!

What we think about God is crucial

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10)

Versus

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. (Psalm 14:1)

New Year’s Resolution

Typically, I’ve identified goals for the coming year (sometimes with detailed plans!), or, more recently, one big resolution that I hoped would guide my actions during the new year.  Sometimes that has been powerful.

This year, I want to focus on better understanding our holy God. And strive to be more holy myself (gasp!).

I am beyond intimidated by this. My new year’s resolutions are usually much more concrete, and appear much more possible. But we are told to seek. And we are told that God is a rewarder.

So here I go …………
