God is Shaking Us

Hurricane Milton, October 8, 2024; nesdis.noaa.gov

The devastation from Hurricane Helene is beyond comprehension. And then more destruction from Hurricane Milton. People died.

And, of course, other overwhelming events: earthquakes, fires, mudslides, landslides, floods, tornadoes, hail, lightning, torrential rain, blizzards, volcanoes, typhoons, and fierce straight winds in various US states and other countries. (And this isn’t a complete list!) People died.

Insurance policies used to call these “Acts of God.”

God is – should be – getting our attention. We need to take stock now. What is your relationship to God? What about your friends and family? We, as individuals and as a country, must repent. We must turn to Jesus Christ in belief and trust.

And do NOT think that only the wicked suffer. Remember what Jesus Christ said:

There were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. And Jesus said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate? I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem? I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:1–5)

Unless we repent we will perish.

Let’s pray for our country (US and others), our people. Father, please show us Your truth, please show us we need to repent and turn to Jesus Christ in belief and trust.

Lord, have mercy.
