Election Anxiety?

Election Anxiety?

For US readers, are you anxious about the Presidential election? Or other races? For those in another country, you probably have some other anxiety.

Here is what to do.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6–7)

We are to pray

Throughout Scripture, we are told to pray. We are to make our requests known to God.

Fact of life: Readers of this blog do not agree on which candidate should win, and have different prayers.

We are to pray WITH THANKSGIVING

Why pray with thanksgiving? We pray, requesting a certain outcome from God. And we thank Him that He is in control and will answer in the way He wants, fulfilling His holy plan.

God knows His holy purpose. God is working according to the council of His will.

When we are thankful that our sovereign God has heard us and will answer according to His perfect will, we are acknowledging Him as God, and rejoicing in Him and His wisdom. Those are good and righteous responses … no matter His answer.

Prayer WITH THANKSGIVING results in peace

When we align ourselves with God’s will, we have His peace that passes all understanding. His peace guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Right now

Right now, pray, making your requests known about the US Presidential election (and other elections). Before the election, thank Him for His answer. And repeat. After the election, thank Him that He is a holy God, working His will in the US and in the world. And repeat!

Remember:

“My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings. (Daniel 2:21)

The Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes. (Daniel 4:32)

When we are truly thankful for His sovereign rule, we are peaceful.
