God With Us

Newborn Jesus, Mary’s son, was (and IS) eternal God.

Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)

Mary, as the song says, kissed the face of God.

An unbelieving friend says: “That’s incredible.” Well, yes, but it is true.

Great is the mystery of godliness

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form. (Colossians 2:9)

By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. (1 Timothy 3:16)

God took on flesh and blood

He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. (Hebrews 2:17-18)

Since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. (Hebrews 2:14)

Jesus, eternal God, is with us

Jesus proved He is God. He created, He healed, He controlled nature, He cast out demons, He served, He loved. He lived a perfect life.

As one of us, He grieved, He cried, He hungered, He thirsted, He hurt. He was tempted, but did not sin.

We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)

As the perfect Son of God, He sacrificed Himself, taking our punishment, so that we, who believe in Him, might live.

Christ in us

When we have repented and believe in Christ, we receive Him as Lord and Savior. We are in Christ and Christ in us.

In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. (John 14:20)

He is ever-present in our lives. He is truly God with us.

Merry Christmas!
